about
From Losfer Words Awakenings CD, inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's the Silmarillion.
The Creator of Tolkien's mythical world is called Illuvatar by the Elves. He created the elves so that their size was equal to men, but Elves were stronger in spirit and limb, and would not grow weak with age. They would possess the greatest happiness and the deepest sorrows. They would be immortal and ageless so that they might live as long as the Earth (Arda) to guard over it, never knowing sickness or pestilence, however, their bodies would be Earth like in substance and could be destroyed. They could be slain with fire, or steel in war, be murdered, and even die of great grief. Thus, the elves were immortal as long as evil did not enter into their lives and destroy them. The elves came to life or "awoke" in Middle Earth at the kindling of the stars by Varda, the Lady of the Stars. For this reason, she is the one Valar loved the most by both the elves of Middle Earth and Illuvatar. It is said, in Tolkien's tale, that the elves of Middle Earth still carry the light of her stars in their eyes.
